    Notes
    • Mary arrived in Plymouth, Mass. on "May Flower" in 1620

      Last survivor of the Mayflower pilgrims; arrived with herparents and sibl ings Bartholomew and Remember !Ninety years oldat death, but this would me an that she was born before herparents were married, highly unlikely at t he time. Other
      dateshows age 87 (1612-1699) so birth would be after Nov 1611marriage of p arents.

      She was the last survivor of the 100 (or 102) who came across on the Mayflower. She was probably buried by husband Thomas but there is noheadst one.
      Note:
      Note: From "A Brief History of the Pilgrims: Complied from Bradford's andW inslow's Own Writings" 1947 by Chester E. Rogers Published by TheRogers Pr int, Plymouth Mass.:

      List of Passengers on the Mayflower: "Mary Allerton. A daughter.Marr ied Elder Thos. Cushman, Robert Cushman's son, and had eightchildren, S he was the last survivor of those who left England in the"Mayflower," a nd died in 1699 in Plymouth."

      The book above was largely derived from "Bradford's History" written by Gov. Bradford. Also used Young's Chronicles of the Pilgrims whichinclud es Mourt's Relation written either by Gov. Bradford or Gov.Winslow and Win slow's Narrative.

      When Mary died in 1699, she was the last survivor of the Mayflower.The bir th years for Mary and her siblings must be wrong. According toThe Engli sh Ancestry and Homes of the Pilgrim Fathers; by CharlesEdward Banks, originally published 1929;
      May was the youngest of the 3(Bartholomew, Remember and herself); and all were about 2 years apart.Supposedly Mary would have been born ca 1616, yet she was married ca 1620 according to another source.

Around 1636, she married Thomas Cushman. Thomas had come to Plymouth at the age of 13 on the ship Fortune in 1621 with father Robert Cushman, a prominent member of the Pilgrims' congregation in Leiden. Thomas and Mary had a surprisingly prosperous family: seven of their eight children survived to adulthood, got married, and provid ed at least 50 grandchildren. Mary, who gave birth to and raised eight children, lived to the age of 83. Prior to her death in November 1699, she w as the last surviving Mayflower passenger.
