      appointed Chairman of the Dominion Railway Commission. Judge
      Mabee, 50, eldest son of late Col. S. P. Mabee, was born and

    Obituary
    • Hon. James Pitt Mabee - Of U.E. Loyalist descent, he was born
      at Port Rowan in 1859, son of Col. S. P. Mabee and Frances
      Seaton, of Lincolnshire, England. Educated at Port Rowan
      Public and High Schools and St. Thomas High School. Later
      taught in Port Rowan for a year and a half. Became a barrister
      in 1882. Appointed a King's Counsel in 1889, and a Bencher of
      the Upper Canada Law Society in 1904. Practised law in
      Listowel, Stratford and Toronto. Appointed a Judge of the High
      Court of Justice of Ontario in 1905, and held office until
      1908. On the death of Judge Killam, he was appointed, on March
      28, 1908, to the onerous position of Chairman of the Canadian
      Board of Railway Commissioners, which post he held until his
      death, May 6, 1912.

      1905-08 - of U.E. Loyalist descent; son of Col. S.P. Mabee.
      Born at Port Rowan, Ont. Nov, 5 1859; received his education at
      St. Thomas High School. Called to the bar, 1882; Q.C. 1899. In
      1905 was elevated to the bench as a Justice in the Chancery
      Division, an appointed to the International Inland Waterways
      Commission, the same year. Commissioner for the Consolidation
      of the of the Ontario Statutes, 1906. Chairman Dominion Railway
      Board, 1908. Died 1912
