Colmán Már mac Diarmato«/b» (died 555/«u»558 «/u») was a King of «u»Uisnech «/u» in «u»Mide «/u». He was the son of «u»Diarmait mac Cerbaill «/u» (died «u»565 «/u»), the high king of Ireland and also king of Uisnech.«u»[1]«/u»
The annals do not refer to him as king but he is mentioned in the king-lists of the «i»Book of Leinster«/i». It is unknown when he acquired Uisnech; his father had acquired the high kingship in «u»544 «/u».«u»[2]«/u» He was killed in his chariot by Dub Sloit Ua Trena one of the «u»Cruithne «/u» in 555 or 558.«u»[3]«/u»
Colmán Már was ancestor of the «u»Clann Cholmáin «/u» which later dominated the southern «u»Ui Neill «/u». His sons included two kings of Uisnech, «u»Suibne mac Colmáin Már «/u» (died «u»600 «/u») and «u»Fergus mac Colmáin Már «/u» (died «u»618 «/u»). Colmán Már was possibly identical with «u»Colmán Bec «/u» (died «u»587 «/u»), the distinction arising out of 8th century politics.«u»[4]
