- Francus, by edict, changed the name of his tribe from Sicambri to Franks. He led a Frankish, Saxon, Thruingian Army of 300,000 men to fight against the Romans. He also was able to form a league with the German Princes.

Francus made a "perpetual league" with the Germanic Princes (tribal leaders) and changed the name of his tribe to
Franks, hence the name of the nation of France. {This is mostly legend, of course.}
