One of the many Frankish princes, Pharamond was probably the sun of Sunno (1) or Marcomir (2) and was traditionally named by some chroniclers the first king of Franks. He probably became chief of a Frankish tribe in 419 or 420, though some later authors wrote it was in 417. The chronicle of Saint Prosper of Aquitaine says it could not have occurred before the sun eclipse of July 19, 418.
Pharamond is known as the first King of France - he was Duke of the East Franks in 404, and then Duke of the West
Franks in 419, and King of Westphalia {-of course, he was simply a powerful inter-tribal leader}.
