Notes |
- About photo named Allie, Connie, Ruth
I have a problem with this photo. On the back of the photo, in Grandma Bandy's hand writing, is written "Ruth is a lot taller than her mother". Then the people in the photo are listed as "Ruth, Connie, Aunt Allie, then Alma took the picture. All of this is in pencil. Then in pen Aunt Allie is underlined and "Great-Aunt" is written in pen in grandma's hand writing below it.
Then written in a different pen is a note, that I don't believe is Grandma 's hand writing, "Could be Ruth Green?" with an arrow pointing to the name Ruth.
The problem is this: There is no doubt in my mind that the woman seated is Alice (Allie) Mabee from other photos of her and the same could be said of the small woman behind her, she is her daughter Connie. The statement written later on the photo in ink "Great aunt" is confusing as Allie is Grandma's aunt, her mother's sister. The tall girl is said to be "Ru th", but which Ruth. I have no information about Connie having a daughter. That don't mean she didn't though. The first note makes it clear that Grandma thought it was Connie's daughter and if it is Ruth Green it is Carrie Mabee's daughter Ruth Amanda Harris that married a Green and not Connie. I don't know who Alma that took the photo is.
Until we find out different I'm taking the Ruth to be Connie's daughter and not Ruth Green, as that was what Grandma wrote on it and she should know. If we find out different later we can change this.
