They took their name from the lordship of Climpton, in Oxfordshire. «b»Roger Climpton or Clinton«/b» was Bishop of Coventry from 1228 to 1249. «b»John De Clinton«/b» was summoned to Parliament at the first of «b»Edward I«/b», by the title of «b»Baron Clinton of Marstock«/b».
