charged in 1378 with the abduction of «b»Margery Narford«/b», grand daughter and heir to «b»Alice, Lady Neville«/b». Such was the serious nature of the offence that «b»Howard«/b» was not only sent to the Tower but also bound under substantial recognizances to do no harm to «b»Lady Neville«/b» and his captor, «b»Sis John Le Strange«/b»; furthermore, his case was brought to the attention of Parliament. But such animosity as possibly remained between «b»Strange«/b» and «b»Howard«/b» did not, in the following year, prevent «b»Richard, earl of Arundel«/b», from having both men act as witnesses to one of his transactions.
