- came to an arrangement with his brother whereby «b»William«/b» took the manor of Milton Keynes. On his demise in 1606 his son «b»William«/b», then a minor held the manor. In 1637 «b»William«/b»'s first son «b»Edward«/b» held the manor, dying the following year leaving the manor to his brother «b»Charles«/b»; who was succeeded by his younger brother «b»William«/b» in 1643. He did not enjoy the profits of the estate. It was mortgaged for £6000 in 1634 to «b»Sir Lewis Watson«/b» (who became Lord Rockingham) and «b»John Loddington«/b». Parliament were ignorant of this fact and granted «b»Sir John Corbett«/b» the estate in recompense for losses caused by the kings troops. «b»Corbett«/b» and «b»Rockingham«/b» fought out their case in the Chancery and in 1652 it was referred to Parliament . «b»Corbett«/b» pleading the Act of Oblivion. «b»Rockingham«/b» died in 1653 and his son «b»Edward Watson«/b» and «b»John Loddington«/b» joined «b»William Stafford«/b» in levying for Milton Manor. «b»Henry Stafford«/b», son of «b»William«/b», was sued whilst a minor in 1669 by «b»Dr. Lewis Atterbury«/b» with regard to the glebe lands. In 1667 «b»Henry Stafford«/b» conveyed the manor to «b»Heneage Finch«/b» and his son «b»Daniel«/b».
