During the last year of the reign of «b»King Richard III«/b», he was designated heir to the throne, being «b»Richard«/b»'s closest adult male relative in the Yorkist line. After «b»Richard«/b»'s defeat at the Battle of «u»Bosworth «/u» in 1485, «b»Lincoln«/b» was reconciled with the new king, «u»«b»Henry VII «/u»«/b», but soon became impatient for power and tried to achieve it by supporting the claims of the boy pretender, «u»«b»Lambert Simnel «/u»«/b». «b»Lincoln«/b» was killed at the Battle of «u»Stoke«/u» in 1487, at which the rebel army was defeated.
