- Gurnsey did not like her name so she used Marie G. Ice or Thomas. Her birth certificate had an error on the spelling of her name, so it actually reads "Gursey". Marie died of Cardio-Pulmonary Obstructive Disease, commonly known as COPD, a combination of emphysema and bronchitis.

- (Medical):Marie had pleurisy, and was normally about 98 lbs. No one knew she was as sick as she was, including her doctor and specialist who had treated her for 11 years.
