- Notes about Nathaniel Churchill and Betsy Rider; Residents before 1764 was Plymouth, Mess. moved to Yarmouth, N.S., Canada in 1764, one record shows he moved with his wife Betsy, but 1764 is before they were married. Betsy did live in Plymouth, Mass., so she would have had to move there sometime. There is a discrepancy here also, as Carrie shows that Nathaniel was born in Yarmouth and that cannot be the case. I think that his father, Lemuel Churchill moved there in 1764 when Nathaniel was 16 and he latter married Betsy and brought her there and it was Nathaniel Jr. that Carry was referring to. The IGI has his BD as 25 or 29 Mar 1749. My understanding is that they were loyalists and moved to Canada because of the mood for separation from Great Brittan. I do not have documented proof of this though. The family was in Canada after this until Fredrick William Duncombe and his wife Julia Mabee came out of Canada into Mich. The exact date is not certain, as I remember it he told me he came shortly after their marriage in Dec 1887. That means they would have probably move to the USA in 1988 as they were in Mich. when their first child was born in March 1889.
