- original builder of Farleigh Hungerford Castle. «b»Sir Thomas«/b» is generally recognised as the first elected Speaker of the House of Commons in the 51st year of the reign of «b»Edward III«/b» (1377). Upon his death he was buried in the Chapel of St. Anne in the parish chapel outside the castle. His wife «b»Joan«/b» died ABT 1412 and was buried beside him. Burke's Extinct and Dormant Gentry, p 291
