Anecdote |
- Steve Mabie writes "These are my great-great-grandparents.
John and Maria lived in Norway NY then moved, in 1840, to St.
Joseph County, Ind., where he died in 1846, one year after my
great-grandfather John Peter Mabee was born. John Peter
enlisted in the 20th Indiana Infantry in July, 1661, and later
married Bessie Berryman in 1879 in Camden, NJ, with John Peter
dying in 1884. One of their sons, Walter Constant Mabie, owned
a printing company in Philadelphia and, in 1927, served as the
National Commander-In-Chief for the Sons of the Veterans of the
Civil War. His son Walter Weir Mabie was my father.
