  Notes	in the 34th year of Edward I, was made a Knight of the Bath with Pr ince Edward. From that time to the 4th year of the ensuing reign, he was c onstantly engaged in the wars of Scotland; but he was afterwards involv ed in the treason of Thomas, E. Lancaster, yet not greatly to his prejudic e, for, in the 10th year of Edward II, he was constituted captain-gener al to the King, from the Trent northwards, as far as Roxborough in Scotlan d, and for several years subsequently, he continued as one of the commande rs of the English army in Scotland, in which service he so distinguished h imself, that he obtained a grant from the crown of the confiscated proper ty of Lord Badlesmere, in the city of London and county of Salop, as we ll as the escheated lands of John Mowbray, Lord Mowbray, in the Isle of Ax holme, and several manors and castles, part of the possessions (also forfe ited) of Roger Mortimer, Lord Mortimer, of Wigmore. But these royal gran ts led, eventually to the earl's ruin; for, after the fall of the unhap py Edward into the hands of his enemies, Lord Arundel, who was implacab ly hated by the Queen and Mortimer, suffered death by decapitation at Here ford. http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/FITZALAN.htm#Edmund FITZALAN (4º E.
