life, and being of a sound and disposing mind, memory and
understanding (for which blessed Almighty God), do make and
publish this my last Will and Testament in manner and form
following:
First: It is my Will, and I do order that all my just debts and
funeral expenses be paid and satisfied as soon as conveniently
can be done after my decease.
Item 2: I give and bequeath unto my son Cornelius P. Mabie and
to his heirs and assigns forever all my household goods and
furniture, also all my wearing apparel.
Item 3: I give and bequeath unto Mary Ann Concklin, the wife of
DeWitt C. Concklin, the sum of Five Hundred dollars.
Item 4: I give and devise unto my Son Cornelius P. Mabie, my
land and farm at Old Tappan, near the dwelling of John Haring
Jr. for his management and control during his natural life,
receiving the income there of to his own use, hereby empowering
him to sell the same to Mary Ann Concklin, the wife of DeWitt
C. Concklin, or to any other person, or persons for such price
as he shall see fit and give conveyance therefore, and the
money arising from such sale to be placed at use with my other
estate, as hereinafter ordered; and likewise hereby giving him
power to give and devise the same to said Mary Ann Concklin,
and in case of him not selling, or devising the same in manner
aforesaid, then I do order my Executors to sell the same in
such manner as they shall think right, and give sufficient
conveyance therefore, and the proceeds to become a part of my
estate to be disposed of as hereinafter mentioned.
Item 5: I do hereby order my Executors to invest and put out at
interest all the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, and
the annual income after deducting the Expenses of investment
and collection for each year, to invest in like manner during
