Adelaide«u»«/b»[1]«/u» (c. 947\endash 1026),«u»[2]«/u» called «b»the White«/b»,«u»[3]«/u» was the daughter of «u»Fulk II of Anjou «/u» and «u»Gerberga of Maine «/u». She was therefore the sister of «u»Geoffrey Greymantle «/u». She was married five times to some of «u»France «/u»'s most important noblemen.
Her first marriage, probably before 960, was to «u»Stephen, Viscount of Gévaudan «/u». Her second marriage was to «u»Raymond III «/u», «u»Count of Toulouse «/u» and «u»Prince of Gothia «/u», in 975. He died in 978.
In 982, she married «u»Louis «/u», the young son of «u»Lothair of France «/u», and the two were jointly crowned «u»Monarchs of Aquitaine «/u» on the same day at «u»Brioude «/u». The large difference in age between the spouses was cause for a quick divorce in 984.
She fled then to «u»Arles «/u», where she contracted, against papal advice, a marriage with «u»William I of Provence «/u» in 984. She gave him a daughter, «u»Constance of Arles «/u», who later married «u»Robert II of France «/u».
Her final marriage was to «u»Otto-William, Duke of Burgundy «/u».
