«b»Hawise«/b» and «b»Gilbert«/b» «b»Fraunceys«/b» had a son who took the estates of his mother and the Vernon name. Some sources claim that «b»Hawise«/b» received the Haddon and Harleston estates due to the banishment of her brothers, and that the Vernons of the 'fretty (fret), sable' descended through her son «b»Richard«/b» (Fraunceys). It is possible that the Haddon and Harleston estates were granted by «b»Sir William, Chief Justice«/b», to his half-brother «b»Robert«/b». There seemed some litigation between «b»Richard«/b», son of «b»Hawise«/b», and «b»Sir Richard«/b» (wife «b»Juliana de Vesey«/b»), grandson of «b»Sir William, Chief Justice«/b», during the mid-1300's. All were of the fretty (fret) sable.
