Also known as Seskef and Odin, he has been mistaken for Shem, the son of Noah and who was also a father of a Bedwig. The error occurs in the source, [UL:Anglo-Saxon Chronicles.:UL]

«b»Sceafa«/b» («u»Old English «/u»: «i»sc«/i»), also spelled «b»Sceaf«/b» («i»sc«/i») or «b»Scef«/b» («i»sc«/i»), was an ancient «u»Lombardic king «/u» in «u»English legend «/u». According to his story, Sceafa appeared mysteriously as a child, coming out of the sea in an empty boat. The name also appears in the corrupt forms «i»Seskef«/i», «i»Stefius«/i», «i»Strephius«/i», and «i»Stresaeus«/i». Though the name has historically been modernized «b»Shava«/b» (and latinized «b»Scefius«/b»), «u»J. R. R. Tolkien «/u» used the modern spelling «i»Sheave«/i».
