Hucbert«/b» (died 864) was a «u»Frank «/u» and son of «u»Boso the Elder «/u». Therefore he was a «u»Bosonid «/u». His sister was «u»Teutberga «/u», who married «u»Lothair II «/u», a prince of the «u»Carolingian dynasty «/u», the imperial family of «u»Francia «/u». Hucbert was lay-abbot of the «u»Abbey of Saint Maurice-in-Valais «/u».
Lothair's reign was chiefly occupied by his efforts to obtain a divorce from his wife Theutberga, and his relations with his uncles «u»Charles the Bald «/u» and «u»Louis the German «/u» were influenced by his desire to obtain their support for this endeavor. Lothair, whose desire for the divorce was prompted by his affection for a woman named Waldrada, put away Theutberga, but Hucbert took up arms on her behalf.
