«b»Margaret«/b» was the daughter of «u»«b»William Courtenay, Earl of Devon <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/WilliamCourtenay(10EDevon).htm>«/u»«/b», and the «b»Princess Catherine«/b», and that she died at Holcombe, choked by a fishbone, A.D. 1512. Says on her tombe. This was found for her, in the person of «b»Henry, Lord Herbert«/b», eldest son of «b»Charles Somerset, Earl of Worcester«/b»; and she was living at Richmond, in attendance on the infant «u»«b»Princess Mary <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/aboutMary.htm>«/u»«/b», on the second of Jul, 1520. She died before her husband, who married, secondly, «b»Elizabeth«/b», daughter of «u»«b»Sir Anthony Browne <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/AnthonyBrowne(SirKnight).htm>«/u»«/b». So we can only conclude that the inscription at Colyton is a mendacious inscription, and was invented to support the tradition about "«i»little chokebone«/i»", as the natives call her, and which, like many other traditions about the Courtenays, can have had no foundation in fact.
