Another file reverses these dates, making John Bolles 3 years older than his own mother. Rather than perpetuating these rather startling errors, I would prefer to toss this Elizabeth into the NBL (for "not bloody likely!") pile, and hope that further research reveals that either her date of birth has suffered from a bad transcription and even worse copying, or that John's mother was a different Elizabeth Perkins - or someone else - altogether. In either case was, one hopes that she was, in fact, somewhat older than the age of 3 before she had a son. Some genealogists make the automatic assumption that John's father had an unnamed first wife, who was the mother of his children. In other sources, the surname is spelled "Bowles".
