Conyers Darcy was the eldest son of «u»Conyers Darcy, 8th Lord Darcy of Knayth and 5th Lord Conyers «/u», who was created «u»Earl of Holderness «/u» in 1682.
He sat in the «u»House of Commons «/u» as MP for «u»Boroughbridge «/u» in 1660, then for «u»Yorkshire «/u» from 1661 to 1679. In November 1680 he was elevated to the «u»House of Lords «/u»by «u»Writ of acceleration «/u», sitting as «b»Baron Conyers«/b». On his father's elevation to an earldom in 1682, he acquired the courtesy title «b»Lord Darcy and Conyers«/b». He succeeded as 2nd Earl of Holderness, 9th Baron Darcy de Knayth and 6th Baron Conyers on his father's death on «u»14 June «/u» «u»1689«/u».
