settled in Northleigh, along with the his cousins, sons of his uncle «b»Simon«/b». «b»Simon«/b»'s family lived up on the Hill, the high-elevation part of town, and were considered gentlemen. «b»Richard«/b»'s children lived in the lower part of town, and were described as the 'bye blow from Herefordshire" by «b»Anthony Wood«/b». Apparently the two sides of the family ignored each other and denied any relationship. The Hill-living side of the family denied the priviledge of using the family arms (3 pears) to «b»Richard«/b»'s family, who then had to settle for silver pears. «b»Richard«/b»'s son «b»James«/b» got the right to bear golden pears restored to him in 1664 by «b»Sir Edward Bysshe«/b». «b»Barnwell«/b» says of «b»Richard Jr«/b», «b»George«/b» and «b»Francis«/b»: "Of the three younger brothers, nothing is stated, so it is uncertain whether they left descendants."
