her son «b»Thomas«/b» was born about 1524. Her husband died in 1528 and «b»Thomas«/b» became a ward of his grandfather the «u»«b»3rd Duke of Norfolk <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/ThomasHoward(3DNorfolk).htm>«/u»«/b» (Letters and Papers H. VIII, iv.6248 (21)) He appeared at the Exchequer in 1551 to present proof that his ancestors had held a court leet at Hintlesham since the time of «b»Edward I«/b». Coming to Framlingham in Jul 1553, he took the oath of allegiance to «u»«b»Queen Mary <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/aboutMary.htm>«/u»«/b» there on 14 Jul and became one of the two Members of Parliament for Bramber, Sussex in her first parliament. This was achieved through the influence of the «b»Duke of Norfolk«/b». He was later granted an annuity of £20 from the Crown.
By 1557, he had married «b»Audrey«/b», daughter of «u»«b»Sir Nicholas Hare of Bruisyard <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/NicholasHare.htm>«/u»«/b», Suffolk, who was Master of the Rolls (1553-1557). «b»Thomas«/b» sat again in Parliament as M.P. for Great Yarmouth, 1563-1567, and was a Commissioner for the subsidy voted to «u»«b»Queen Elizabeth <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/aboutElizabeth.htm>«/u»«/b» during this Parliament. In 1569 he was Controller of the Household of «u»«b»Thomas, 4th Duke of Norfolk <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/ThomasHoward(4DNorfolk).htm>«/u»«/b» and later receiver in Suffolk, for the «b»Duke«/b», by 1572 and for «u»«b»Phillip, 13th Earl of Arundel <http://www.tudorplace.com.ar/Bios/PhillipHoward(1EArundel).htm>«/u»«/b» by 1589.
Having rebuilt Hintlesham Hall, which was probably completed about 1579, he also bought, after his son's marriage, estates of freehold and copyhold land in Flowton, Burstall and elsewhere.
«b»Thomas«/b» died at Hintlesham on 13 Jan 1594 and there is an elaborate monument to him, his wife and 9 children, as well as to his son «b»Nicholas«/b» and his family in Hintlesham Church. He was succeeded by his son, «b»Nicholas Timperley«/b» (c.1564-1624).
