«b»Octavia Maior«/b» («b»Maior«/b» Latin for «b»the elder«/b», lived «u»1st century BC «/u») was the daughter of the Roman governor and senator «u»Gaius Octavius «/u» by his first wife, Ancharia. She was also an elder half-sister to «u»Octavia Minor «/u» and «u»Roman Emperor «/u» «u»Augustus «/u». Little is known of her life. «u»Plutarch «/u» only knows one daughter Octavia of Gaius Octavius and confuses Octavia Maior with Octavia Minor.
«b»Marriage and Descendants
«/b»Octavia Maior was married to «u»Sextus Appuleius «/u» (I). They had one son, who was also named «u»Sextus Appuleius «/u» (II) and was ordinary «u»consul «/u» in 29 BC with his half-uncle, «u»Augustus «/u». Through her son, Sextus Appuleius (II), she had two grandchildren, a grandson, named «u»Sextus Appuleius «/u» (III) like his forebears and a granddaughter, «u»Appuleia Varilla «/u». Octavia Maior's last known descendant was her great-grandson, also named «u»Sextus Appuleius «/u» (IV), through her grandson and his wife, «u»Fabia Numantina «/u»
