Bisinus«/b», «b»Basinus«/b», «b»Besinus«/b», or «b»Bisin«/b» («u»Lombardic «/u»: «i»Pisen«/i») was the «u»king of the Thuringii «/u» (fl. c. 460 \endash 506/510).
According to «u»Gregory of Tours «/u», he supplied refuge from «u»Childeric I «/u», the «u»Frankish king «/u» who was exiled by his own people. His wife, «u»Basina «/u», left him for Childeric and the two returned to «u»Tournai «/u» together, after eight years.
The historical Bisinus bears some resemblance to the Bisinus of Gregory, but the details are different. Bisinus was the leader of a Thuringian confederation on the «u»Rhine «/u» and his wife was a «u»Lombard «/u» named Menia. He left three sons, «u»Baderic «/u», «u»Herminafred «/u», and «u»Berthachar «/u», who inherited the throne from him. His daughter Radegund married the «u»Lombard king «/u» «u»Wacho «/u».
