«/b»In «u»Greek mythology «/u», «b»Electryon«/b» was the son of «u»Perseus «/u» and «u»Andromeda «/u», and king of «u»Mycenae «/u». He married either «u»Anaxo «/u», daughter of his brother «u»Alcaeus «/u» and sister of «u»Amphitryon «/u», or «u»Eurydice «/u» daughter of «u»Pelops «/u». His wife bore him a daughter «u»Alcmena «/u» and many sons.«u»[1]«/u». Electryon had another son «u»Licymnius «/u» by Midea, a Phrygian woman. The six sons of «u»Pterelaus «/u», descended from Electryon's brother «u»Mestor «/u» came to Mycenae to claim a share of kingdom. When Electryon spurned their request, they drove off his cattle; Electryon's sons battled against them, and all but Licymnius (on one side) and «u»Evenus «/u» (on the other) were killed. Evenus sold the cattle to «u»Polyxenus «/u» of «u»Elis «/u». Amphitryon, Electryon's nephew and promised in marriage to Alcmena, bought the cattle and returned them to his uncle, but accidentally killed him as he threw his club at one of the cows. Electryon's brother «u»Sthenelus «/u» seized the throne of Mycenae, charged Amphitryon with murder, and sent him into exile.
