- «b»http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nilus_(mythology)
Nilus«/b», in «u»Greek mythology «/u», was the son of «u»Oceanus «/u» and «u»Tethys «/u». He represented the god of the «u»Nile river «/u» itself and was father to several children. Of these included «u»Memphis «/u» (mother of «u»Libya «/u» by «u»Epaphus «/u» a king of «u»Egypt «/u»), as well as a son named Nilus Ankhmemiphis (the father of Anchinoe and Telephassa).
His granddaughter Libya in turn became mother to «u»Belus «/u» and «u»Agenor «/u». These sons then married (presumably) younger daughters of his son Nilus named Anchinoe and «u»Telephassa «/u» respectively. His other children include: «u»Chione «/u», «u»Anippe «/u», and (possibly) «u»Caliadne «/u» and «u»Polyxo «/u». Though he represented the Nile, Nilus's overall importance in Greek Mythology is very small. Had he been an Egyptian god his importance would have been much greater.
