      Shuah«/b» («u»Hebrew «/u»: "ditch; swimming; humiliation"«u»[1]«/u»), also known as «b»Sous«/b»,«u»[2]«/u» was, according to the Bible, the sixth son of «u»Abraham «/u», the «u»patriarch «/u» of the «u»Israelites «/u», and «u»Keturah «/u» whom he wed after the death of «u»Sarah «/u».«u»[3][4]«/u» He was the youngest of Keturah's sons; the others were «u»Zimran «/u», «u»Jokshan «/u», «u»Medan «/u», «u»Midian «/u», and «u»Ishbak «/u».«u»[3]«/u»

«u»Josephus «/u» writes of the brothers that "Abraham contrived to settle them in colonies; and they took possession of Troglodytis«u»[5]«/u», and the country of Arabia the Happy, as far as it reaches to the Red Sea."«u»[2]«/u» In all probability, Abraham tried to keep them apart from «u»Isaac «/u» to avoid conflict while fulfilling God's commission to spread out and inhabit the globe.«u»[6][7]«/u» But unlike his brothers, Shuah seems to have turned northward and travelled into northern «u»Mesopotamia «/u», in what is now the northern region of modern day «u»Syria «/u». As evidenced by «u»cuneiform «/u» texts, the land seems to have been named after him, being known as the land of «i»Sûchu«/i» which lies to the south of ancient «u»Hittite «/u» capital of «u»Carchemish «/u» on the «u»Euphrates «/u» river.«u»[8]«/u»
The Bible also records that the character «u»Job «/u» had a friend who was a «i»Shuhite«/i».«u»[9]«/u»
