Hui«/b» was an «u»ancient Egyptian «/u» priestess during the «u»18th dynasty «/u». She was the mother of «u»Merytre-Hatshepsut «/u», the «u»Great Royal Wife «/u» of Pharaoh «u»Thutmose III «/u».«u»[1]«/u».
Hui played an important role in the cults of «u»Amun «/u», «u»Ra «/u» and «u»Atum «/u». One of her statues was found, it names her as the mother of the Great Royal Wife. This proves that Merytre was not the daughter of Queen «u»Hatshepsut «/u», as she was thought to be. (Thutmose's other Great Royal Wife, «u»Satiah «/u», is known to be the daughter of a royal nurse named «u»Ipu «/u».) The statue, which is now in the «u»British Museum «/u», also depicts the children of Thutmose and Merytre, except for «u»Amenhotep II «/u». Princess «u»Nebetiunet «/u» is sitting on her grandmother's lap, Prince «u»Menkheperre «/u» and princesses «u»Meritamen «/u», the other Meritamen and «u»Iset «/u» can be seen on the side of the statue. Iset was probably the youngest, as her figure is much smaller than that of the others.«u»[2]
