Godigisel«/b» (359-406) was «u»King «/u» of the «u»Hasdingi «/u» «u»Vandals «/u» until his death in 406. He was killed in «u»battle «/u» late in 406, shortly before his people forced a crossing of the «u»Rhine River «/u» into the territory of the «u»Roman Empire «/u».
Godigisel was succeeded by his eldest surviving son, «u»Gunderic «/u», who led the Vandals into «u»Gaul «/u» and later to «u»Spain «/u». But he was best known as the father of «u»Geiseric «/u», who succeeded Gunderic to the kingship in 428 and ruled for 49 years, establishing a powerful kingdom in «u»North Africa «/u».
