John Cherleton«/b», (or Charlton) (c 1336 to 1374) «u»[1]«/u», 3rd Lord Cherleton. His marriage with a daughter of «u»Ralph Stafford, 1st Earl of Stafford «/u» (Joan de Stafford) had been arranged by his grandfather («u»John Charleton, 1st Baron Cherleton «/u») in 1343. He succeeded to the title of 3rd Lord Cherleton in 1360.
He is reported in the muster rolls for 1372 as being of the rank of «u»Banneret «/u» leading 22 archers and men-at-arms on a naval expedition under the leadership of «u»King Edward III «/u».«u»[2]

He had two sons, «u»John «/u» and «u»Edward «/u» who later became the 4th and 5th lords Cherleton.
