- From the Maybee Society early records: "Caspar subsequently
adopted, as the baptismal entries of his children show, the
surname Mabie. they resided in the Harlem, New York, as early
as Feb 1695, when Casparus appeared on the tax rolls there. He
was then on the tax rolls continuously until Jul 1699. He was
appointed a constable at Haarlem on 29 Sep 1696. He sold his
Haarlem dwelling on 26 Mar 1700. and removed to New Rochelle,
NY, a Huguenot town. Casparus may have returned to NY by 1705
as his son Abraham was christened there. By 1708, he was in
Bergen County, New Jersey, residing at Closter(?) or New
Bridge, near Hackensack where his son Johannes was Christened.
Most sources say he and Eliz. are buried at the Tappan Reformed
Church burial ground, Rockland Co. , NY. Barrie and Gloria
Mabie state that he died at Closter, NJ. Many other sources !

from which the family came is mentioned. Caspar subsequently
