Ardgal mac Conaill«/b» (died 520) was a King of «u»Uisnech «/u» in «u»Mide «/u» of the «u»Ui Neill «/u» dynasty. He was the son of «u»Conall Cremthainne «/u» (died 480) and grandson of «u»Niall Noígíallach «/u».«u»[1]«/u» He is considered the third king of Uisnech in the list in the «i»Book of Leinster«/i».«u»[2]«/u»
Ardgal was slain in the Battle of Detna in Druimne Breg by Colgu, King of the Airthir of Airgialla and the high king «u»Muirchertach mac Muiredaig «/u» (died 532) on the Louth-Meath border which points to the origins of the family of «u»Diarmait mac Cerbaill «/u» in the territory north of the Boyne and Blackwater.«u»[3]«/u»
Ardgal's descendants were known as the Cenél nArdgail. They were situated among the Luigne in Co.Meath.
